Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the treatment and prevention of injuries and movement problems, as well as education and prevention measures to help patients gain the highest possible level of independent function.

A physiotherapist will:

  • Assess range of motion, strength and gross motor skills
  • Train support staff in handling, positioning and exercise programs
  • Recommend respiratory techniques to help with airway clearance
  • Train support staff on recommendations to increase the client’s function
  • Assess and prescribe manual wheelchair seating
  • Assess the use of special devices, orthotics and adaptive equipment
